Brain Food - New Zealand Bovine Brain
Brain Food is a brain-boosting blend of New Zealand Bovine Brain, Organic Lion's Mane Mushroom and Wild, Organic Blueberries. A great addition for senior dogs and puppies.
Brain Food contains freeze-dried brain from BSE-free New Zealand calves. Brain is a good source of
- DHA, an important omega fat for eye and brain health
- Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), a protein involved in memory, stress response and brain cell health.
- Sphingomyelin and important proteins and peptides.
Every half teaspoon of Brain Food contains the equivalent of 1.5 ounces of fresh, raw brain.
It also has Lion's Mane mushroom inside!
Lion's Mane has these tiny molecules that can cross the blood-brain barrier. Long considered neuroprotective, Lion's Mane is known as the "smart" mushroom.
Researchers believe that Lion's Mane mushroom can grow and protect brain cells: hericenones and erinacines. A study showed that Lion's Mane mushroom reduced memory loss in mice* and prevented the amyloid plaques associated with Alzheimers disease.
*Mori et al Effects of Hericium erinaceus on amyloid β(25-35) peptide-induced learning and memory deficits in mice 2011
Brain Food also gives your dog a good supply of wild, organic blueberries, which are powerful antioxidants that target the brain and nervous tissue.
Brain Food is freeze-dried, not heat processed. This retains the heat sensitive fats, vitamins, minerals and co-factors that makes brain one of the most important organs you can give your dog.
New Zealand has never seen a case of mad cow disease (BSE) but every batch is third party tested. New Zealand practices national surveillance for BSE.
Free of pesticides, hormones and GMOs Four Leaf Rover® Brain Food makes it easy to offer your dog a wider range of healthy organs and glandulars.
Give Brain Food once daily with meals.
*For dogs with allergies or immune issues, start with a 1/4 to 1/2 dose and work up to the full amount, or follow your vet's instructions.

New Zealand brain (calf)
100% freeze-dried calf brain retains heat sensitive vitamins and minerals making it one of the most nutritious organs you can give your dog.
Wild Organic Blueberries
The large amounts of antioxidants in blueberries (called Anthocyanidins) can help protect brain cells from damage.
One human study showed that consuming berries improved cognitive function, blood flow to the brain and activated parts of the brain linked to cognitive function.*
*Bowtell et al Enhanced task-related brain activation and resting perfusion in healthy older adults after chronic blueberry supplementation 2017
Organic Lion's Mane Mushroom
Often referred to as “the smart mushroom”, Lion’s Mane contains 2 compounds believed to enhance brain function: hericenones and erinacines.
Where is the calf brain sourced?
Brain Food is sourced from grass-fed calves in New Zealand, not Argentina. Argentina is the world’s largest user of glyphosate (Roundup).
Where is brain food made?
All Four Leaf Rover products are made in the USA.
My dog has a sensitivity to beef, can I still give him this since it’s made with beef calves brain?
Brain Food does contain calves brain which is similar to beef but not the same. It is a good idea to check with your holistic vet to see if this can be given.
Why is the calf brain freeze-dried?
Freeze-dried calf brain retains heat-sensitive vitamins and minerals. Other brain products are heat processed which kills off the same heat-sensitive vitamins and minerals that make the brain so healthy.
Why is there Lion’s Mane in Brain Food?
Lion’s Mane is known for its ability to boost the brain and nervous system. In fact, in a 2004 study, Japanese Kawagishi et al published a study showing that Lion’s Mane improved the functionality in patients with mild dementia.
